The Law Offices of Richard Feingold moved in December into Suite 510 of the Bridgeview Bank building at 4753 N. Broadway, one of the larger office buildings in Uptown.
Feingold has practiced law since 1986. He went into the field, he says, because he wanted to help people, and his focus on disability claims gives him that chance. Working within the justice system can be frustrating, he says, but getting clients through it is rewarding.
His own firm since 2006
After years at other law firms, Feingold opened his own practice in 2006. He counts that move among the most satisfying parts of his career. Before law, he worked in fundraising, sales and hospitality, and even then he wanted to be his own boss someday.
He stays involved in his field through the Chicago Bar Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives.
Spinning plates
Running a small firm comes with its own pressure. Feingold says he and his staff always seem to have many plates spinning at once, and the constant challenge is balancing legal work with the administrative side of the business. In a small office, the owner is ultimately responsible for all of it.
The new location suits the work. Uptown is home to many social service agencies and to residents who may need help with disability benefits, and the Broadway office is a short walk from the Lawrence Red Line stop.
Away from the office, Feingold has competed in triathlons in Chicago and in Champaign, where his older son is a college sophomore. He has been married 22 years and is the father of two boys.
