This page explains how The Uptown Ledger decides what to publish and how we check it.
Independence
The Ledger is independent. No government agency, business association, political campaign or developer has a say in what we publish. Advertisers and sources do not review stories before publication.
Sourcing and verification
We rely on public records, meeting agendas and minutes, official data, company filings and reporting by other news organizations, which we credit. Facts are checked against the original document wherever one exists. We do not publish quotes we did not obtain ourselves or cannot attribute to a published source.
Archive stories
Some older stories cover Uptown businesses and events from past years. They are kept at their original addresses and describe things as they stood at the time.
Advertising and press releases
News coverage is not for sale. Sponsored material is labeled and kept separate from staff reporting. Press releases distributed by newswire services may appear on the site and are identified by their byline.
Photos
Photos are credited in captions. Many come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons or public-domain licenses, and we follow each license’s attribution terms.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it in the story and add a note saying what changed and when. Small fixes such as typos are made without a note. Send errors to corrections@uptownbusinesspartners.com.
